At 2000 feet on a navigation flight from A to B, you'll have no problem doing basic pilotage, using a map like skyvector and the view from your cockpit of your ZL18 ortho, which will be exceptionally good from that altitude. You have all the variation of the real world, as opposed to endless repetition of the same old fields and forests. Compared to the default landclass data, ortho is positively stunning. However, here's what Ortho can do for you: The real world is so much different - we have excellent detail all the way down to the subatomic level. Of course, all the detail was there at both altitudes, but it was grainy when viewed down low. She said "It lost all its detail!" I asked her to climb the little Skyhawk up to 2000, which she did, and she looked down again, and this time exclaimed "All the detail is back!" My fiancée was saying this earlier today while she was flying by the Golden Gate Bridge and Lands End. I have modified the Python script we were using to easily combine photos or select different photo providers. (English) SpainUHD for XPlane uses this photoscenery. For example, in Spain, the IGN provides the project PNOA under a CC-BY license, which is compatible with FG and redistributable.
